Review titled Extremely satisfied patient
Rated 5 stars out of 5
by Anonymous - Posted on 01 November 2024
I have visited the Bevan Group Practice on 2 occasions in as many days, on both occasions I had the pleasure to be treated by a Nurse and a Paramedic. The nurse was extremely pleasant and professional and made what was an intrusive procedure much less traumatic than I had anticipated. The following day I had an emergency appointment with a male Paramedic. Again pleasant and professional. He was extremely thorough and knowledgeable. He provided a clear explanation and put me at ease and prescribed me with relevant medication. Both are a credit to your surgery. I feel it is only right and proper to bring this to your attention as people are only too quick to criticise the service provided. Please could you ensure my comments are passed to both with my kindest regards.

Review titled Poor experience
Rated 1 star out of 5

During my appointment I was not listened to, had to repeat myself on more than one occasion. At the end of the appointment I was told to have even more tests, and received no advice, which is disappointing as I have been seeking help for the past 12 months, each encounter just results in more tests. I asked questions but got ignored again.

Review titled Go for a walk

Got referred to a social prescription which was a waste of time, basically had someone phone me up and tell me to go for a walk. Won't bother with this again.

Another short notice cancellation, next appointment isn't for two weeks. This is now the third short notice cancellation. We will be changing surgery, this is no longer acceptable.

Having spent nearly an hour on phone to get through to surgery when I eventually spoke to a receptionist they told me I would be better going to walk in centre I told them I had already spoken to them and they advised me to go to my GP so they gave me an appointment I explained my circumstances and was phoned off with more medication that is not going to help me what so ever what is the point I think I need to change my doctor's as this surgery is getting terrible reviews

Review titled Two short notice cancellations
Rated 1 star out of 5

Like all GP practices it's really difficult to get an appointment. Finally managed to get a telephone appointment and was told I needed to come in to the practice and was given an appointment the following week, only for it to be cancelled at very short notice. This is the second time I have had an appointment cancelled at short notice. Tried using the online messaging system but never received a response. Poor surgery but not sure anywhere else is any better.

Dear Patient thank you for your feedback. We are sorry to hear of your dissatisfaction with the practice. Unfortunately GP's calling in sick last minute cannot always be helped, we do our best to accommodate any patients when this happens as we know it is frustrating. We do not have an online messaging system so I am unsure as to what you a referring to and would welcome you to contact the practice to explain.

Review titled Very helpful
Rated 4 stars out of 5
by Stephen Moneypenny - Posted on 24 October 2023
After a stay in hospital, and a short period staying in a care home outside of Widnes, my mum was assigned a new GP in St Helens! This was after being a patient at Bevan Group Practice since it's opening all those years ago. This meant I could not order her medication on Patient access app, it was quite worrying. I contacted the surgery to let them know and then received a call to meet with the patient liason officer. After a 30 minute meeting explaining the situation I was told they would sort this out for me. A few hours later all was OK. Medication for my mum was ready for collection and in blister packs which will be easier for her going forward. After being initially very annoyed at what had happened, I felt I had to write this to say that the staff are trying their best to help under very difficult circumstances, so be as patient and courteous as possible.

Review titled Poor communication
Rated 1 star out of 5

Asked to attend for blood tests even though I have never spoken to a GP, only attended a nurse appointment to register as a new patient. Tried to get a telephone appointment to query request for random blood tests but was told on numerous occasions no appointments were available, but only after asking me what the appointment was for, so obviously fobbed off. Was told three different reasons why these blood tests were necessary, so don't know who to believe. One of the GPs altered a repeat prescription without any conversation, which felt arrogant at best. After reviewing prescription shouldn't have been changed and had to wait for a new prescription to be issued. Wish I had never changed GP, will most likely change to another practice.
