Review titled Disgusting service
Rated 1 star out of 5
by Paul buckley - Posted on 02 September 2024
Today's date 2/9/2024 been ringing since 8am got to 08:15am got told I was 10th in the line. When got someone on the phone asked for an appointment couldn't get one today because my doctor is off, so I asked for after that was told to ring back in the morning but past history shows I'll get told to phone back again the day after. So I asked for a later appointment, I was told they have the schedules for the next 2 week so I asked for an appointment with that 2 weeks once again told to phone back tomorrow. So now I'm going to skip that mmming and the huffing from the staff member yes I was told I'd be transferred to the supervisor, wasn't any point would of got the same answer. Then the person tone on the call changed and kindly reply I'm not been aggressive towards the staff member so why has your tone changed then little bit after that the staff member said its the manager who sets the schedules. So the reception staff just blame the manager for the issues with appointments, not the best thing to say on a record phone call. This surgery isn't what it used to be.

Thanks for your feedback and subsequent follow up submission. I'm afraid demand for appointments across the health service far exceeds the capacity available and that's not just a problem for our practice but I suspect for most others too. We continue to look to provide the best service we can to meet that demand but I acknowledge it is not perfect right now...and is unlikely to be so in the near future

Review titled Seriously poor
Rated 1 star out of 5

I was ringing to I couldn't get through for the first 17 minutes from opening. When the 17 minute arrived I was then in a que at number 10 for another 18 minutes what a complete joke. I really hope I don't have to call this building again in next year because this was extremely poor, how the building is still open with this kind of wait time is beyond me.

Review titled They use drugs as punishment
Rated 2 stars out of 5
by Peeved & Annoyed - Posted on 25 August 2024
If you are on regular drugs like opioids, they will just stop sending prescriptions to the pharmacy if you fail to attend a clinic you know nothing about. I failed to attend a diabetes clinic and had drugs stopped, ignoring the fact that I dont have diabetes. Despite knowing my medical conditions and memory issues, they still stop all drugs suddenly for not attending a clinic despite my neighbour, who was going to the surgery, telling them I was on the floor and couldn't get up. Complaints went to the practice and the practice manager just said I am free to leave and find another practice. They are good as long as you do as you are told, if you don't, you are not treated as a patient with issues, but treated like a naugty child who needs to be punished into submission. They used to be the best practice in the area but post COVID they have changed to an uncaring group.

Dear Patient, Thanks for your feedback and I'm sorry I can't deliver a better response but the comments are anonymous so I can not reply directly taking in to account your circumstances. Where we make a decision to stop prescribing this is never done lightly and it is generally only when a number of requests to make a review appointment have been ignored and in our opinion it becomes more dangerous to continue to prescribe without further information than it does to stop prescribing pending receipt of that information. We do this precisely because we are a caring practice and the safety of our patients is paramount. Andy Haigh, Business Manager

Review titled Perfect

Had my appointment with my doctor today, she is amazing as ever so understanding, sometime you just want to give her a cuddle to say thank you, but that wouldn't be appropriate as some would say. So to DR i saw today, thank you for today for everything I am great full for it. Also I would like to add a thank you to the lady yesterday on reception who managed to make the appointment possible and also for exaplain a few things which I wasn't aware of and I am great full for that also sorry I forgot the ladies name. So big thank you to both staff members.

Review titled 2nd worsted experience ever.
Rated 1 star out of 5

Rang up this morning. 3 times. First time was on hold for nearly 1 hour. 2nd time was told by automated system 8th in the queue. Then rang up a 3rd time 9th in the queue. In short keep away from the bellbrooke surgery surgery the reception staff are a joke and no point complaining to the manger because he is biased towards them. I don't know what the hell has happened to training these days but clearly these staff need an update on it.

Review titled No appointments
Rated 1 star out of 5

I put a request through on patchs as surprising I couldn't get through on the phone. I have been in severe pain for days and asked for an appointment. I was told to call back the next day at 8am, that has to be a joke I cannot get through normally never mind the busiest time of day. I tried again in the afternoon thinking the phones would be quieter to see if there were any cancellations, surprisingly I was on hold for 30 minutes. I will now have to use the walk in centre who will only tell me to go my gp which I cannot get an appointment to, so looks like I'm in pain for the foreseeable.

Thanks for your review. We monitor our average telephone wait times which are generally under 5 minutes. Unfortunately whilst I can try to address an issue raised with me an anonymous comment on here is impossible to trace and resolve. Perhaps it would be sensible to contact the practice direct and we can see if we can address the issue

Review titled Unhelpful

Visited a doctor on Friday evening to discuss insomnia and serious hormonal acne issues. It's difficult to explain your personal troubles as it is so after 30 mins of me pouring my heart out the doctor assured me he has gotten me all the right help. Apparently, over the counter antihistamines are the way to go forward for serious insomnia and he never bothered sending an acne cream through to pharmacy. Absolute lack of care, empathy and understanding. I feel worse off than before I attended this appointment. If you have an opportunity to do so seek a different practice for help.

Thank you for the feedback. It is difficult to comment on anonymous cases. In this case I note the review details an appointment on a Friday evening - the practice do not open on a Friday evening - we provide our building space for the local Extended Access Service Team. As such I'm afraid the GP you detail is not in any way related to the practice and I can not really add further comment

Review titled Rude receptionist
Rated 1 star out of 5

I am 31 week pregnant, moved to Doncaster and I’m in the process of changing GP but needed a sick note for now , was trying to get appointment with GP and I’ve been told my problem is not emergencies and I won’t get appointments in next 2-3 weeks. On the end of the conversation the person working in reception told me : if you don’t like our service you can register in Doncaster. I’m with that GP for nearly 10 years, most of the time people who are working in reception are rude and not helpful.

Thank you for your review - unfortunately as it is anonymous I find it difficult to address or provide any real answers/solution. Like every GP practice we do have to prioritise our appointments for those most in need and typically if someone is just seeking a fit note then we would utilise a routine appointment slot which may be a week or two in advance. Our ability to provide a service may also be impacted by the stage of any transfer to another GP - and how long ago you left for Doncaster? I hope that having been with us for 10yrs you have on the whole found the service more to your liking and apologise if this last interaction has left you feeling let down

Review titled Can they be more accommodating especially children
Rated 2 stars out of 5
by Anonymous - Posted on 24 October 2023
Not receiving your call or either on hold for very long minutes and end up not having to get an appointment despite the need to be seen by GP. My daughter had a recent chest infection which could have been managed in the surgery if only they gave her just minutes to be checked and prescribed with antibiotics. I have to go to Walk in Centre and be sent to Hospital only to be seen to have antibiotic started which can also be done by GP.

Review titled Appalling practice
Rated 1 star out of 5

Cannot get an appointment even when you physically queue up for opening at 8am. The reception staff seem to be the ones who decide who can have an appointment. I was told I couldn’t have one for 4 weeks as I ‘wasn’t an emergency as I was still able to go to work’. I don’t get paid if I don’t go to work. I have been at this practice for 30 plus years but recently the appointment system seems to be failing. The wait time on the phone line is more often than not around 45mins & you seem to stay 2nd in the queue an awful long time. This practice has extended opening hours a couple of days a week but even then you can’t get an appointment. Look into registering at other practices first if you can.

Thank you for your review. Its unfortunate this is anonymous as I would be able to look in to this and assess where we may improve or given you a more complete explanation had this been raised directly with me. I'm sure you will be aware that the appointment systems at all GP practices are under considerable pressure right now as is the whole health care system. We have significantly more demand than capacity and that demand is growing and we do have to prioritise appointments and deal with them on the basis of need. There is no preferential treatment should you decide to queue up rather than telephone and we do not prioritise on a first come first served basis. You could try online options which provide a different route in to our services We have installed monitoring systems for our telephone lines during the last 18 months and again given the details I could have addressed your issue with waiting times on the telephone. Since we made the change the average wait time now is under 3 minutes. I can't really help with any issues with regards extended opening hours - we provide the premises for the extended access service for all the practices in the Leeds 8, Leeds 9 area but do not deliver the service itself - I guess difficulty in obtaining appointments in extended access shows the pressure on the system in general.
