I booked at appointment with a GP for 4:30pm today. The appointment was made several weeks ago and i arrived early to ensure i would not be late. I arrived and checked in at a16:20 then took my seat. At 16:41 i went up to reception to enquire how much longer it would be as I had already been waiting 11 minutes. There was no reason given as to the delay other other than the doctor was running behind. A very obvious but unhelpful update. I was told to wait at the waiting area further down the hall. At one point I actually saw the doctor i was supposed to see walk past the area I was sitting and mumbled something about sorry for your wait whilst in stride. I was not even sure if he were talking to me as he did not walk over to me to say this to acknowledge me or explain the delay. I continued to wait and at 17:57 i decided that a 27 minute wait with no explanation or any indication of how long i would be waiting was more than unreasonable. I spoke with reception who advised that apparently there was some sort of " emergency" hence the delay. I completely understand that there will be delays and as a result we sometimes have to wait longer times than normal to see a GP. What i cannot accept is a lack of communication to the patient to explain the delay or even to give the option of rescheduling if the delay was going to be long. At 4:30 pm, and at 4:41pm it would have been known that my wait was going to be excessive, but no one thought to let me know. There was no one else waiting when i arrived and only 2 people waiting 27 minutes later . Everyone's time is important and respect should be shown as such. Had i been 20 minutes late for my appointment and not called it to advise, iam sure i would have been told i would need to reschedule my appointment. I would have no argument with that, because it is about respecting the time of the GP and or staff who have arranged their day to see me. I expect absolutely the same and today i did not get that. I hope my experience will be looked at and used to improve the service and just remind the GP and staff that "everyone's" time is important.!!

Felt very at ease, listened to and not sure why people say they struggle to get an appointment, I certainly didn't
