    I left a review about my experience last week and it has been taken down....so I will leave it again. I had to wait over an hour for a return phone call and then explain in great detail about the sores on my skin which are probably cancerous. I was told by the receptionist I would have to wait a month to see a doctor. I explained that I felt I should be seen sooner with suspected cancer. She went to speak to duty doctor who agreed a month was ok. I was then asked to send in photos of the sores, which I could not do as was in town and I didn't know how to. I then phoned 111 and explained the details to them. I was informed I should be seen in three days and to phone the surgery back to say I had spoken to them. I got the same receptionist who spoke to the duty doctor again. The reply was they disagreed with the decision from 111, however I would now be seen eleven days later at Asquith Rd surgery. In my opinion Aspen is a surgery of two parts. The nurses who are excellent, and their waiting room usually busy, and the doctors who are in the main not so good and their waiting rooms with only one or two people in or empty, which I find surprising as they are so busy. Again, the practice is continually advertising for more patients and yet they can't even see the ones they got in anything like a reasonable time......I am more than confused by all this!

    I have to say, I usually have nothing but praise for the practice, but the prescriptions team lack total empathy. I recently suffered a bad flu virus and was unable to pick my medication up until a few days later. Well, the prescription line at the practice gave them the go ahead to throw them away in front of my face! They also promised they would text me their decision, as taking those tablets included my few that I have worked on so that I am not stuck to the day I have to take them, surely everyone has a few extra tablets they have gone without to protect themselves when things go wrong, as they often do! This has totally disrupted my life, I am a busy Grandmother supporting my daughter with childcare whilst she is in her final few weeks of her Nursing degree.

    I have some blood taken and the nurses were amazing kind and supportive, it was painless and until have blood taken at aspen it’s always felt painful and in welcoming so many thanks to the aspen nurses

    When giving blood today she is very kind and friendly when taking my blood samples. Always gentle and caring. Receptionist was helpful with the answers to my questions. I have to wait for a reply to my request for access to my personal health records.

    I had a session this evening on prediabetic exposure , what type of food that increases blood sugar and how to regulate sugar in the blood, it was so interesting and educative.

    This program is an eye opener, though I was a bit aware of how excess sugar can negatively affect our health. I have been consuming much of what am not supposed to be eating until this great enlightenment. The health education was simply, concise and easily understood which will really prevent me from taking excessive carbohydrate and incorporate protein and fats in my diet to promote my wellbeing. I really learned what needed to be learnt from the health program and I wish this can be a campaign to educate and encourage others to eat healthy foods and to let citizens know the dangers of eating unhealthy foods and it’s implications on their health.
