Review titled Great receptionist
Rated 4 stars out of 5
by Karen Houston - Posted on 25 May 2023
Rang for results and spoke to a really helpful receptionist, she got me a call back from the Doctor within and hour and after speaking to the Doctor I had to ring back to book an appointment to go in to see the Doctor, the same receptionist answered and again was really helpful and very friendly, lovely lady.

Going to this GP was one of the most wonderful experiences I had with the medical field. Everybody from reception were amazing, very helpfull, very polite and happy, ready to answer all of my questions. I felt safe and cared about. I wish we can meet more people like the ones from Arbury Medical Center, world would be a better place!

Review titled Great Practice
Rated 5 stars out of 5

This was a follow up appointment, to discuss how I am managing my cancer diagnosis. My doctor was again very patient, understanding and encouraging. I was also made to feel very at ease. We spoke about the help on offer and I have taken this on board, and am going forward with this. The practice went out of its way to accommodate my change of appointment time, as it clashed with a bone scan at UHCW. My journey is having its ups and downs, but I am so pleased I am with this practice. I left my appointment feeling more than a little uplifted. Thank you.

Review titled Understanding Doctors
Rated 5 stars out of 5

I was recently diagnosed with breast cancer, after quickly being referred by the practice to the George Eliot Hospital Breast Care Unit, and have had 2 operations. I have been suffering severely with extreme anxiety over the past 12 weeks. So much so, am unable to eat properly, have panic attacks, can’t settle or sit still, don’t want to see or talk to people etc. I have had fantastic support from my family, friends, consultant and Breast Care Unit, and support from the practice especially when I telephoned and spoke about my condition a few days ago. Today I visited the practice and saw my Doctor. My Doctor was attentive, listened to what I had to say, gave good advice and help, and most of all assured me that the feelings I have are normal in these circumstances. I was also offered other services, such as counselling if I thought it would help me. Although I have some way to go, I feel some of the weight has been lifted off my shoulders. I have not just been left to ‘go it alone’ and have contact again with my Doctor in a few weeks, or sooner if I need to. The care I have received from first being referred by the practice to the hospital cannot be faulted. Thank you so, so much.

I just wanted to thank the team that helped me (repeatedly!) regarding my niece & re-registering, her change of address & name etc. It has been a very complicated & exciting time for us, finding out that she is expecting & the advice given about Badgers & the self referral system etc has made everything so much easier. Thank you so much, we felt cared for as a family, not just as a patient.

Review titled Shocking practice
Rated 1 star out of 5
by Kat Ayers - Posted on 14 February 2024
Absolutely shocking GP practice. I went to them as I wasn’t feeling very well and couldn’t deal with it by myself. The advance nurse tried putting it down to anxiety. I told her that it was anxiety… She checked my blood tests from late last year to find that my thyroid had got a lot worse. Did she bother giving me treatment for it? No she didn’t she just sent me for more blood tests! A week later I end up being admitted into hospital because my thyroid! If this GP practice had done their jobs properly I wouldn’t have ended up in hospital! So glad I’m away from this practice and am now with one that actually listens!

Dear Ms Ayers, I am sorry that you feel unsatisfied with the service and clinical support you received. However, I am struggling to find you registered as a patient or ex-patient of our practice? If you could contact me directly at our practice on cwicb.arburyadmin@nhs.net I would be happy to review our system and your comments to provide you with a personal response. Regards Tina Storer, Practice Manager

Review titled exemptional service

I recently had major surgery which because of all my medical conditions there was a high risk I wouldn’t survive it but not having the operation I would have surely died from a perforated bowel the drs and nurses at the surgery throughout have been exemplary in their care compassion and understanding they have gone above and beyond in getting me the help I needed they have saved my life I know I have a long way to go but I know I could not be in safer hands they are a credit to the nhs the majority of the receptionists I have spoken to with the exception of one or two have been kind caring and helpful my only negative is the telephone system is a nightmare and trying to get an appointment can be mission impossible I think there should be a marker on the system where that vulnerable patients with several serious health conditions should be able to access an appointment more easily and not be grilled by the odd receptionist whose clearly not patient friendly but to all the drs nurses and receptionists who have looked after me I thank you for looking after me I thank you for doing your best but most of all I thank you for giving me life

Thank you Mrs Timmins for your comments; I am pleased to read that you have received exceptional service from our team; we strive to put patient care at the heart of what we do. We do know that we have a few issues with our new telephone system and we are constantly monitoring its and our staff's performance. Although things are improving we are still reviewing things regularly to make changes as needed. Next time you call, please try the call back feature, its working very well; you will receive a same day call back from staff. We have recently had some personnel changes within our patient service advisor team; they are trained and directed by the doctors to ask probing questions to ensure that you as a patient receive treatment from the best placed clinician or service available. Our clinical team has grown in the last 2 years and we now have a multi disciplined and there is often another clinician best placed to help a patient rather than always a GP; so by staff asking a few questions you will be assigned promptly and efficiently to someone who can help. I thank you once again for taking the time to write your review.

I am sorry that you had this experience. To help you in the future, please do inform our patient services team when you make the appointment that you require a consultation call back between a certain time, this will help when the GP is triaging their session caseload, ie. I need a call back between 9am - 10am.
