    The Amwell Group team has taken great care of me and my newborn son in the period following his birth — in this post-partum time, we’ve needed a fair amount of NHS support. The team has been wonderful — getting to know me and my son by name and recognizing us when I call, and accommodating urgent / customized requests. For example, my and baby’s six week checks were great. The team helped with my questions about routine and travel vaccinations, as well as scheduling. And when I developed mastitis, the Amwell Group team triaged me for a same-day appointment — in fact, I saw a GP and took my first dose of antibiotics within three hours of raising my concern on the e-Consult system. This was incredible service and turnaround time! Thanks to the whole team for your support.

    With recent implementation of eConsult practice of Amwell Group changed, it seems that it’s created artificial restriction and obstacle to get basic health care, while the practice partner says that it helps them to giv us care without delay when in fact it made it impossible to get an appointment and some people who accept calls are rude and dismissive, or not picking up the phone for hours, or forgetting to do what they promised. Particular examples is two last phone calls with reception team neglected crucial information and requested I made which resulted in delayed medical care so I had to go to a private GP to get it done in time

    Dear Patient, Thank you for your feedback. Our new access system has been in place for just a few weeks and we really value patients letting us know about their experience with the new system so that we can refine it. We have introduced this system in line with NHS England advice, in common to all other GP surgeries in the country, to help us direct patients to the right person in the primary care team, and with the right urgency, to meet their needs. Using the e-consult form online at home, or via our i-pad in the surgery, allows you to tell us exactly what you are worried about, or are requesting, in your own words so that no detail is missed. These forms are then reviewed on the same day you submit them by a GP. Alternatively if you don't have online access you can speak to our reception team. In this instance it would be really helpful if you called us and asked to speak to our manager so that we can hear about what went wrong and remedy the situation.     I have been a patient at Amwell Group Practice since I was a baby, back when they were based on Clerkenwell Road. I still distinctly remember the long green and wooden chair and the bead play toy from those days. Over the years, the care I have received, particularly from Drs, and all the other staff, including the receptionists and pharmacy team, has been absolutely outstanding. I’ve always been able to secure appointments when needed, and the administrative support has been timely and efficient, which has been especially crucial during some very challenging periods in my life and my children’s lives. In particular, after a fire destroyed my home, Amwell group practice were there to support me, when my face stopped working on one side, I was seen to urgently, and accommodated the fact that I had other serious responsibilities that day, but helped me immensely and I was diagnosed that day. The after care has been amazing too, reducing additional stress. I am deeply grateful to Amwell Group Practice and the wonderful people who dedicate their lives to helping families like mine. Thank you for everything you do!

    This is an outstanding practice. Diagnosis of my renal cancer was due to the skill of the practice. Early referrals and prompt and professional followup meant that I was treated successfully.

  5. Review titled Great Practice with great staff

    All the administration/reception staff, Nurses and Doctors I have met have been outstanding at this practice. Nowhere is perfect, but this is close. Practice Nurse urgently re-referred me to St Barts - Diabetes & Metabolism when they accidentally dropped me from their patient list for 18 months. C/K - one of the Medical Receptionists is wonderful, helpful and informative as to what alternate advice I should seek for my eye issue today as they were extremely busy this morning. She is a huge asset to the team. I would also like to thank Dr C and Dr MD for their diagnostic expertise and resolve to get me the best course of treatments for my mental health issues over the last few years.

    I have been with Amwell Practice since I was a kid and honestly, the service is awful and keeps getting worse. Extremely unhelpful receptionists, if you are lucky enough to get past them, the odds of getting a good doctor are 50/50. I understand the NHS is stretched but if you are dealing with people, especially in need of help so there is still a level of personable service needed. Called to make an appointment to be told they were all booked, then I had to push the receptionist on what the next steps were then there was magically a telephone appointment. Same receptionist called back telling me I got a text to send photos, didn't believe me I hadn't received and I had to be push for an email address. I received the text about 5 mins after the call. The doctor was fine. Another doctor reviewed my xray and sent a text saying to book a non urgent face to face appointment if symptoms are ongoing. Receptionist (same as receptionist as before) wouldn't let me book a non urgent appointment. Throughout the whole experience receptionist was difficult, unhelpful and lacked people skilled. Had very limited interactions with the doctors in this experience.

We are introducing a new system this week whereby every patient request for a doctors appointment will be reviewed by a GP and the appropriate appointment will be booked in there and then, meaning that patients will no longer negotiate booking GP appointments with our reception team.     My new born baby recently had thrush, after receiving the query they responded within a couple of hours, reviewed the situation with pediatrician and got back to me the next day. Through the whole process, they were responsive, patient and extremely supportive to a new parent like me. This is a great GP whenever I have any issue. The doctors are knowledgable, kind and patient, and very caring. The reception team offer great help whenever I reach out. I’m very grateful to have their support, and for the NHS system that gives the amazing level of care to everyone.

    I had an appointment today and instead of telling me the gp was running behind they let me sit for nearly an hour , not the worst thing a lady in the desk was on the phone to someone and when she got off she commented about the patient being a handful and posh snob saying nothing is good enough for her, her fellow colleagues laughed , it’s extremely disrespectful to do this and I can believe how they talked about someone calling up

    Great practice, the staff are very caring right down to the reception to the Doctors. Had an issue and was referred to a specialist and was seen in 2 weeks & then back today for results!

    I went into the practice to pick up a form for blood tests as requested by the doctor (who was helpful and thorough). When I asked the receptionist, she acted like no one had ever requested this before. I was asked to sit. I waited almost half an hour, then asked again at the reception. The receptionist walked over to another staff member who printed the form in less than a minute. Instead of handing me the form so I could be on my way, she stood in front of me folding the paper slowly, looked past me and started talking to another person. She then put her hand out without acknowledging me in a dismissive manner. I usually don’t write reviews but this was so rude and the service was so incompetent. No one should be treated this way, especially after a stressful day at work.
