  1. Review titled Good dentist, poor receptionist

Rated 3 stars out of 5

by Anonymous - Posted on 28 August 2024

I agree with a previous review that describes rude reception staff; I had the exact same experience. The dentist is good, but most experiences I've had with the reception staff have been terrible. Today was no exception, and took the rudeness to another level - I never complain about staff, especially when they're probably not paid very well, but I was pretty speechless at how I was treated. I leave this review partly in the hope that the surgery will spot a pattern in their reviews, and provide some feedback / training. And, I am at the point of making a complaint directly if it doesn't improve.

  2. Review titled Absolutely unacceptable

Rated 1 star out of 5

I am gobsmacked by the attitude of the reception staff at this practice. Absolutely let the dentists down. I have used this dentist several times previously and the dentists themselves are fab. Yet the attitude and plain rudeness of the receptionists is unacceptable, one of which hung up the phone on me today after I returned a missed call from them. Whoever called me left no message and when i rang back to check what they were calling about the receptionist was extremely rude, kept repeating the same question over and over that didnt make any sense and was clearly scripted, not listening to me and talking over me. I still have no idea why someone called me and when i attempted to ask that they please leave a message next time they call so that i know what it is regarding, she hung up on me. There are three of us in the family registered at the practice so I would have thought it was a simple request to ask what the call was in relation to. When I tried to call back after she hung up i was promptly asked to go on hold, they left me for three minutes then cut be off again. I have never known anything like it and will certainly not be taking my children here!

Great service. I called at 8.30 and got booked in for 14.50. After chronic toothache all weekend I knew it had to come out. Within a hour the paper work was complete, tooth removed and I was on my way home. Professional and pleasant densit.

  4. Review titled Taking NHS patients Really ??

Rated 1 star out of 5

Be careful. We went to Stowmarket because you need to register at the practice. Can't be done online or over the phone. Got a call in the afternoon stating I was an emergency because I had a hole in my tooth and would need to go private to be assessed. As I have had this for over a year now I don't consider it an emergency but they were insistant. Watch what you put on the form if you want to go on the NHS list for the appointment. Seems they want to increase the number of private patients by this method. No emergencies on NHS was stated.

  5. Review titled I was misled

by Anonymous - Posted on 16 May 2024

I filled in forms to go on the NHS list. Tavern Street phoned me to say I was accepted. I checked that I was definitely going to be on the NHS and they confirmed this was correct. For 2 years I have been with them and they informed me today that I had always been seen as a private patient. As I have been with them as private I am not entitled to go on the NHS as it is only for new patients. I burst out crying and was told I’m rude and aggressive and can no longer go there!

  6. Review titled Highly recommended

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by Sue Warne - Posted on 29 April 2024

I didn’t think I would ever find a surgery as good as my previous dentist. Very nervous and anxious patient. I re located and Tavern Street is the only place I can find to take on new NHS patients. Everything about this surgery is amazing. My new Dentist there had my full confidence instantly. I needed 3 fillings and all were done in a single appointment I cannot recommend this surgery highly enough. All the staff I have met so far have been fabulous.

  7. Review titled Cynical marketing ploy

Rated 1 star out of 5

I received a leaflet from this practice which gives the strong impression that they are taking on new nhs patients. I phoned the practice, told them I wanted to register and was told by the receptionist to email them with my name and date of birth. I was keen to register with a local dentist, as currently, I face a 120 mile round trip to see my nhs dentist and really need a local one. Shortly after, phoning this practice, I received and automated email, which was basically sales blurb for private patients. Deep in the sales blurb, it's mentioned that you might be able to join thier nhs waiting list, if you turn up in person and fill in some forms. This excersise might, get you a preliminary nhs examination at some point in the future. Then I read the reviews. Needless to say, I'll not be using this practice.

  8. Review titled Not as advertised

Rated 1 star out of 5

by Miguel - Posted on 28 March 2024

I receive a flyer through my letterbox advertising NHS appts available at Tavern Dental. I call them asking to book a check up. I am told, no I have to email my request. I email, then I receive a reply saying that yes, maybe they can see me but not sure how long I'll have to wait and that to "register" I have to attend the Practice in person and fill in a medical form. And then wait..? Why in person? Why do I have to email you? Why not just book me over the phone? If you have spaces , why not book it Why play games and waste my time?

Had first check up advised root canal £900 needed. I had no problems at that time. Cancelled twice due to sickness advised off their books despite showing proof of cancellation in good time and rebooking. Receptionists are rude, robotic and lacking ANYempathy

  10. Review titled Disappointing

Rated 2 stars out of 5

by Anonymous - Posted on 24 December 2023

I could not find an NHS dentist and felt forced to go private. I avoided having a checkup for over two years as I couldn't afford it. The reception staff were inattentive and spent most of the time gossiping rather than working. This irritated me considering the amount of people forced to go private paying for this poor service. My gums were fine before I saw the hygenist, but since my appointment they have bled on and off. I definitely won't be going back.
