Review titled Struck off during COVID
Rated 1 star out of 5
by Catherine Makin - Posted on 27 June 2024
Parants and children struck off NHS due to none attendence during COVID. No notice given but they have capacity to take us on privately. No capacity means no capacity. Apparently if both parents pay for private dentistry, the children can be taken on NHS. Diabolical (oh and both parents need to be private to qualify so if you happen to be single you won’t qualify either. Discrimination and extortion at its finest.

Review titled Unhelpful

After attending this practice for 35 years, I arrived to my last appointment to find my dentist had retired. Nothing was communicated to me, there was just a different dentist sat there when I walked in the room. She saw my family and I, and we made an appointment for 6 months time. 5 months later I broke a tooth and was in extreme pain. I call the dentist who tell me to call back two hours later to get an emergency appointment which I did, they then tell me there are no appointments and to call 111 because I don’t have a dentist and they are under no obligation to help me. I was understandably confused so asked for clarification. The receptionist became impatient and very condescending in her tone. She explained my dentist had retired and the dentist I saw at my previous visit was a stand in and therefor I was no longer registered with the practice and if I wanted to be treated I would have to go private, she said we are doing you a favour offering you to call for an emergency appointment at 11am but it’s doubtful there will ever b one because people who are registered can call at 9am and get any available appointment. I repeatedly asked why this wasn’t communicated with me on my last visit and she had no answer. If it had been I would have had 5 months to try and a new dentist before finding myself in excruciating pain. This dentist used to be a great practice but since being taken over by a new company it seems like they care very little about their long-standing patients and care more about making money! Terrible service. Will no be going back.

Review titled Customer Service - Very Poor
Rated 1 star out of 5
by Anonymous - Posted on 07 February 2024
I have been a customer of this dentist for around 15 years. My dentist left last year and I have been told that I no longer have a dentist at this practice. I asked what am I to do? I was told that I needed to find a dentist elsewhere. That's it after all these years. I believe that the service at this practice has diminished after it was taken over by 'Portman Healthcare' in 2022. This company run around 200 dentists across the company and clearly they are simply focussed on the financial aspect and not customer care.
