    Arrived for my appointment and was asked if I had been to the practise before. I explained I have been here many times, the dentist said that she could not see my record. Then eventually found it and said the record would need to be merged. Was then told very rudely that I need to see the hygienist and my back teeth "if I don't brush them then I might aswell get them taken out". Also, I was told I need an xray. I went to the dentist do I need one (considering I already paid 50 pounds).. She explained they are done every couple of years and because I hadn't been since 2021 then I will need one. (Which I did not feel I wanted and just wanted a routine check up). I then left feeling very upset. I went to the receptionist who told me I had been taken off the NHS books. I explained I tried to make an appointment last year to get a routine check up however I ended up getting covid and was very unwell with it. She explained she could not do anything about that apart from put me on the waiting list which I know is going to take months. I then left and went home and cried. I was so upset about how I was treated and did not feel any better about myself.

We are very sorry to hear you were unhappy with your experience at our Damira The Avenue practice and you felt that you received inadequate service. All staff are made aware of the high-level customer service that Damira aims to deliver, and this will be raised during the next staff training to ensure this does not happen again. Due to the increased demand for NHS appointments, patients who have not attended the practice for their regular dental examination for 3 consecutive year may not be able to access our services under the National Health and will be classified as new patients. Reminders are sent out to patients to encourage them to book in for the routine appointments.     I attended my half yearly check up recently and once again I received the usual high quality care and attention that I have come to expect at this dental practice. The dentist was friendly, informative and professional.

    Damira the Avenue Dental Studio was the only dentist that would accept new NHS patients when I needed to find a new dentist for my daughter. Registration and booking process was easy and quick. I got an appointment in a reasonable time. Once there we didn't wait longer than 5 minutes to be seen. The dentist and his assistant were very good with my 6 year old daughter making me and her feel comfortable. I also appreciate receptionists who get back to emails instantly which is very rare with majority of clinics I have been to. I strongly recommend this practice.

    The dentists overall have been great and very explanatory and informative. I do however have an issue with the booking system which I've tried to raise at reception but either they don't want to acknowledge or perhaps doesn't have the capacity. 1. I have tried to book an NHS appointment online for ages however, rather than state they do not offer appointments online they still give the option to choose NHS and it simply states "there are currently no available appointments". After calling, the receptionist kindly told me they don't take bookings online for NHS patients. Simple website alteration. 2. I've repeatedly had issues with cancellations instigated by the practice and us missing appointments and turning up on the wrong day. My most recent encounter may explain this, I called up to get a booking for my daughter, got one that same day due to cancellation (fantastic). Right after booking over the phone I received a confirmation text to say my daughter has an appointment booked in May (an existing booking which should have been replaced by the booking we had that day). I raised this with the receptionist as the dentist told me this booking had been cancelled. She confirmed the appointment was cancelled but could not give an appropriate answer as to why the person/system would send out a confirmation text for the old appointment. I think this has happened before and as a result of missing a couple (2) appointments they threatened to send a letter to my daughters school to highlight there may be cause for concern!? Pretty annoyed at that. 3. I know our population has grown but the fact they keep pushing for private appointments is unacceptable. The number of NHS dentists at this practice are dwindling fast!

    The female locum dentist appeared warm, professional, and, sought to reassure me of my concerns presented during my visit which took place on 27/01/2023. Receptionist was courteous. The practice environment always appears clean and tidy.

    Everyone from the reception team to the dentists are really nice and welcoming and they put you at ease as soon as you arrive. The practice is run really effectively and professionally and I couldn't recommend it more.

    I went to the hygienist on the 17th of Dec. For effectively a 20 mins treatment i was charged a 30 mins price. Coincidentally my partner had booked a 20mins hygienist appointment and was charged for the 30 mins but in his case the hygienist did spend that time on the teeth. So be very very careful how they charge you for hygienist type appointments. It seems they try to charge you the higher amount where they can, regardless of it is justified or not.

We apologise for the inconvenience of our overall rise in prices for appointments and treatments. This is due to the increase of material costs because of the Covid-19 pandemic. We have also added a different cost to our price list for direct access hygiene patients who do not attend the practice for regular dental examinations. This is why your charge may seem more expensive in comparison to other patients. We sincerely apologise that you were not made aware of this when booking your appointment.     I was very happy with the overall experience of attending the practice. The receptionists were helpful and friendly, and the dentist, who has treated me before, provided thoughtful advice while being thorough and gentle in her examination. Overall, I left with the impression of an efficient and welcoming practice that looks after its clients.
