Earlier this year, I went for a check-up. I told the dentist that one of my teeth would ache after I ate. I said it felt like someone had hit it with a hammer. She failed to take an X-ray. A few months later, the situation had got worse so I made an appointment. I saw a therapist, who took an X-ray which revealed a large cavity. Later, I saw a dentist, not the one I had seen earlier. This dentist initially told me that a root canal would not be possible. Either I could have the tooth extracted by an oral surgeon or he could do a filling, which would have a 50% chance of success. But he then said that he could refer me to a specialist private practice which might be able to do a root canal with special tools for about £800. We agreed that I would think about my options. He said he could see that I had an appointment booked for three weeks time. This appointment was my regular six-monthly check-up. I said I could make an appointment earlier than that, but he said no, I should just come for my pre-booked appointment. This conversation left me rather confused. If a filling really could be done with a 50% chance of success, obviously that would be the sensible option so why were we even discussing extraction and expensive root canal surgery? And why did the dentist want me to attend my scheduled check-up appointment in three weeks time when he had just looked inside my mouth? I assumed he was just taking advantage of the fact that I had an appointment already booked and that he would do the filling at that appointment. The day before the scheduled appointment, the surgery phoned me to check I was coming. I asked them to confirm what the appointment was for. They said it was for a check-up. What is more, the check-up wasn’t even with the same dentist! After I explained my situation, the woman on the phone then told me that it would be better if I saw the dentist I had seen last time so she would reschedule the appointment for a different slot on the same day when he would be available. When I arrived at the surgery, I found that I had been booked in with a dentist I hadn’t seen before. I asked the dental assistant (whom I recognised from my previous appointment) where the dentist I had seen last time was. She said he didn’t work on Thursdays! Why had I been booked in for an appointment on a Thursday with someone who doesn’t work on Thursdays? And why had my dentist insisted that I come for a pointless check-up with another dentist, which meant delaying the start of my treatment by three weeks? Was it because the surgery gets £26.80 for every check-up? Anyway, I told this latest dentist that I didn’t need a check-up. I could see she had my X-ray up so I tried to discuss my treatment with her. I found her difficult to communicate with. She seemed rather timid and just didn’t come across as a confident professional. (There may have been a language barrier, but I’m not sure about that.) I’ve lost confidence in this practice and won’t be returning.

i visited this clinic 5. 05. 2023 and very happy with service and attitude. doctor and assistant they are brilliant team and done everything perfect. i recieved very good treatment - everything was fast and quality. receptionist so lovely - she explained all that i need and helped to find the best time for me. i left clinic with perfect mood and healthy teeth! absolutely recommend atherstone dental practice

I visited this dental practice earlier today and was seen pretty much immediately, both the receptionist and dental staff were extremely knowledgeable and friendly. My issue was discussed, an examination was carried out and a procedure was agreed upon. I was given my next appointment for the treatment to begin within the next few days. I was extremely impressed and grateful. 100% satisfaction.

Was seen quickly during the post-Xmas period, was given efficient, patient-friendly treatment and advice. The dentist was very calm and friendly, and the other staff were cheerful, helpful and efficient, which put me immediately at ease. Very impressed with the service given by everyone in the team. Well done.

Clean building, friendly and helpful reception staff, and a good, knowledgable practitioner. 15 minute delay so leave a bit of time for your appointment in case you're in a rush, but on the whole not a long wait time.

Just returned from first check at this practice. Been a lest 3 year since the last time visited a dentist as i had lost fath in my last practice. I have to say from ring up to an enquery to geting an appointment vould be easier, i was offered an appointmant for the following day. Witch great . Had a check the dentist was nice pleasent helpful the scale was pain free . Need follow up appointments and i can't belive i could gave another appointment this week when at my last dentist you would wait weeks get to see someone . If you are looking for a dentist thos is the place to go.
