A bit of waiting but looked after well.Each section was explained clearly and made e very relaxed.The entire staff including the greeter were all excellent with plenty of tea and biscuits .No part of the visit were rushed.When it came to the theatre visit the surgeon was lovely explaining the process making the whole excercise relaxing.She was great.Overall a wonderful experience.

I recently underwent a cataract operation and had very good care from start to finish. Everyone I spoke with was both pleasant and efficient. The care surpassed my expectations in every way. The outcome of my operation is excellent after only one day!

My mother was seen for her pre assessment only 4 days ago, and today her cataract operation was performed. From the receptionist to consultant she was treated with great respect and kindness. Everything clearly explained and taken at her pace. At almost 91 years she is grateful for the positive experience she has just had.

My first op in July was simply a breeze, however the second left me feeling traumatised. Different surgeons. I was left waiting, after the dilation pellet was put in my eye, for over two hours; no explanation was offered. When I should have been the next person to go in for surgery someone else went before me - no explanation. The op was really uncomfortable; I had lots of cold water running down my face and ear and settling beneath my head - so I was in a pool of water. The first lens failed, I gather and the process had to be repeated - I'm sure this happens but an explanation would have been useful. The whole operation seemed to take forever and was really painful - staring at extremely bright lighting with the back of one's head in cold water was an experience I shall not be repeating - thank goodness it was my second eye. Having written the above, I do want to thank all the staff who were,without exception, on each of my five visits, (I developed rebound uveitis hence an extra appointment) highly professional, friendly, efficient and polite.

The whole experience for both my cataract pre op and surgery was excellent. Everything was well organised and thorough with clear explanations throughout.

All staff, from driver to surgeon, were welcoming and yet professional. Every step was explained and questions answered. With pre op and procedure happening within 4 days the change to my eyesight is dramatic. Thank you and hope to see you all again before too long.

Great friendly professional staff from reception to the surgeon I was made to feel at ease every step of the way. I cannot recommend the Exeter team highly enough

Very well done from start to finish. The short waiting time from the initial referal from my optician was unbelievable. The whole process was carefully explained at each stage.

I write on behalf of my 95 year old Mum who has had two unsatisfactory experiences at Spa Medica Exeter. Both scenarios, a frightening experience for her in the Operating Theatre. The first experience (Jan 2024) there was no one to reassure her or hold her hand through the experience, it felt 'conveyer belt' & given her age & medical issues, primarily heart, all known to the team through medical details supplied through pre-op assessment & paperwork this was disappointing. She also suffered a fall prior to the Op at this appointment which was totally avoidable & meant the procedure had to be delayed by a week. For the second eye, again I was with her right up when she had to go into Theatre. I asked for a nurse to hold her hand throughout, happened & the nurse was very kind. However, the surgeon did not explain, just spoke to the theatre staff and did not address my Mum. On both occasions, Mum exited the operating Theatre in tears.

Spa Medica were amazing! Every staff member was kind, polite and friendly. Lovely people. They all explained each step of my treatment and reassured me on the day of surgery. A quick turnaround from pre op to surgery meant that anxiety was kept to a minimum. I can’t thank them enough and would definitely recommend (the biscuit selection was also top notch!)
