I cannot thank everyone at Spamedica Bromley enough ...I was so nervous to have my cataracts removed but went for it, from my first assessment everyone took great care of me explained everything clearly and answered all my questions ...on the day of my first cataract removal I was put at ease lovely team from reception nurses and my wonderful surgeon oooh and had tea and biscuits before going home ...if anyone reads this review please don't be frightened it honestly is painless you see coloured lights and feel water running down your check and that's it over ...afterwards my eye felt a bit gritty and blurry but your given an aftercare pack that explains everything and apparently that's normal so quite looking forward to 2nd cataract being done thank you to everyone up at Bromley Spamedica fantastic

After putting off very necessary cataract surgery for 18 months I finally plucked up courage and had the op on 14 June. The results are fantastic and cannot believe my vision. The clarity of vision and colours is awesome! Much better than I could have imagined. The staff are all so helpful, friendly and reassuring and offer a hand holding service while you're having your op (which really helped) I was really nervous but the whole team were fantastic, the surgeon had a great sense of humour and it felt like the whole thing was over and done in less than 5 minutes. Absolutely no pain whatsoever and I can only describe the op as a bit like looking through a little kaleidascope as all I could see was two little squares surrounded by pink and blue. (Apparently because I had a very pretty cataract!) Apart from that I was only aware of the surgeon and my lovely hand holding nurse speaking to me and reassuring me every step of the way so it is as though you involved in what is happening which for me made it much easier. Before your op you are with other people that are waiting so can sit and chat, have a coffee, have a read, so it's all very casual which I found made it less scary. Before you leave you are given detailed instructions about what you can and can't do,(just sensible precautions) along with drops. The first few days I was just blown away by the vision and still can't quite believe how good it is. If you are struggling with cataracts but understandably nervous, I can only say go for it as Spa Medica are brilliant from start to finish. You will be so thrilled with the results!

All staff leading up to actual surgery were pleasant but surgery experience was not good. The staff in theatre were brusque, or said nothing. The surgeon felt as though he was getting through this as quickly as possible. There was no concern for how I was feeling, not before during or after the surgery. The procedure was extremely uncomfortable and stressful although I was personally well prepared. I felt in shock immediately afterwards and took a while to calm down in the post op area.

It was great that there was such a short lead in time for the appointments I was offered. However, why did I have to be there so long (over three hours) for a very short procedure? Even the assessment and follow up appointments took over three hours - a great deal of sitting around and waiting for, again, a very short amount of time with medical professionals. The facilities are great - clean, accessible and convenient. The staff were kind and very professional, but the timing of the appointments needs some serious review.

Thankyou for the wonderful treatment from beginning to finish. Everything was just perfect from the receptionist , nursing staff, optician and testing by various people, and of course, the surgeon. I have just completed my medication and have an appointment with optician for check up. I am hoping that very soon I will receive an appointment for my other eye to be done. Thankyou once more and I highly recommend SpaMedica, Tweedy Road, Bromley, Kent.
