    Very sceptical about CBT. Did not think I needed therapy about my anxiety as I thought I could cope/have coped with it, it was who I am, until I had a cardiac event causing an exacerbation of my anxiety to the highest level. Was told about therapy for NHS staff & how it helped my colleague who suffered too from anxiety. What had I to lose plus I needed to overcome this horrid feeling & get on with my life. Initial consultation I felt at ease, listened to & generally ok, this could be of help. I was then given a therapist to which I felt a fraud initially but then over the weeks discovered that my way of thinking had changed though still worried & had anxiety, feelings & thoughts became realistic in achieving certain goals. My therapist was very calming, listened to my concerns & emailed over papers that were suited to my needs every week. On reading back my initial problem statement, I have achieved a lot & will continue to be thankful for this service & for my CBT therapist.

    This was a massive step for me and at first after the initial consultation I thought it was in the right direction. It was a big mistake. I was put onto SilverCloud and it did nothing at all; I was promised support for my mental state from a counsellor instead of saying that this was not possible for the kind of struggles I experienced I was just lied to. I was picked up and dropped the moment I disclosed some very dark thoughts to my “therapist”. This person left me and I got an automated reply saying “I’m glad you’ve found this treatment effective and you’ve made a lot of progress”. Even though I said very clearly that my depression worsened as I didn’t feel heard. If you cannot support those with more challenging mental health conditions then say straight away as I wasted my time on something that made me feel worse it was like yelling into a void, nobody listened to me. I don’t wish that on anybody else. Why is a referral required for a program directed at those with mild conditions and the program appointed to them is just an online self help course that in a years time you have to pay for

    Self referred via their website. Initial response was very quick and I was able to book via email. The appointment was supposed to be via telephone, but they did not phone me at the scheduled time, and I later received an email claiming I did not attend my appointment. Disappointing as I had to take time off work which has now been wasted.
