Review titled Surgery was brilliant poor post-operative care
Rated 4 stars out of 5
by Janice Barrow - Posted on 29 October 2024
I had a total knee replacement at Wrightington hospital, the surgery and pre operative care was brilliant to be let down by post operative care. The pain relief was inadequate and i had to keep asking for relief only to be told thats all i could have, i spent 2 unbearable nights on a ward without sleep in absolute agony. Before the operation i was told i would receive suitable pain relief, this was not the case, this made the whole experience bad. I was discharged and had to request morphine as it was not in my discharge meds, i was given a prescription and had to call at the chemist on my way home. I was waiting for discharge meds from 9am until 5pm before i could go home. I think this needs to be looked into as unsatisfactory pain relief, and patients need to be listened to when they say they are in pain as everyone is different. What started out a good experience turned bad as i felt no one was listening to me. Very disappointed, i have been home now 5 days and i am doing good, managing the pain myself and moving about. I hope no one else has the same experience.

Review titled Wonderful, caring and efficient
Rated 5 stars out of 5
by Caroline Brahimi - Posted on 02 September 2024
I had day surgery today and the whole process ran like clockwork, from ENT clinic to pre-op and admission through the SAL, everything was handled incredibly well by kind, caring and dedicated staff. The staff in SAL and Theatres including the Anaesthetic Team, Recovery staff and ENT teams were excellent at explaining, putting me at my ease and caring for me at a time of vulnerability. Special mention to my Nurse in the SAL who looked after me so well post op and was so kind. Please pass on my very great thanks to the whole team-I hope I don’t have to see you again in the near future, but if I do I know I am in good hands!

Review titled Exceptional Care
Rated 5 stars out of 5

I was recommended Wrightington Hospital by a Podiatrist as I was having ongoing issues with Ankle Arthritis and Wrightington is citied as a centre of excellence for joint issues and quite rightly so. I have had several consultant appointments there over the last 18 months to assess and discuss my options and have always been treated with the upmost respect and care. I am inevitably looking at surgery but I am keen to postpone this as long as possible which the consultant was more than happy to accommodate. In the interim I am having steroid injections to ease the pain. I had the first one at Wrightington today (having had several others at another NHS Hospital which shall remain nameless). The care I received was exceptional at every point. From the initial arrival at 7.30am after an hours drive to get there, through to being discharged 3 hours later. I was met with smiles and care constantly. The consultant who carried out the procedure was friendly, positive and informative and talked me through every aspect of what he was doing and showing me X-ray images as he went along and post procedure so I could see what the outcome was. The level of care and warmth was easily head and shoulders above previous experiences having the same procedure elsewhere. I would have no hesitation in Recommending Wrightington Hospital and the team there.

The teams at Boston house and Leigh have looked after me. I have been assigned to the team for five years they’ve stabilised my eyes issue and really helped me. Advised me honestly at every stage and given me choices to make without any pressure.

Rated 5 stars out of 5
by Margaret Fenton - Posted on 05 February 2024
Following a nasty leg injury on October 20th 2023 , I was referred for weekly dressings, and wound assessment to Leigh Infirmary. The staff have been wonderful, considerate, and kind, whilst tending to the wound. Appointment on time, and advice given at each visit. Tuesday 6th February will be my last appointment. I cannot fault the service.

My 7 yr old son had an appointment at the ENT clinic (Thomas Linacre Centre) this afternoon. A super one-stop service delivered by an exceptional team. Staff are very friendly and caring. They made my son feel at ease right from the outset. The doctors, nurses and audiologist were all excellent and carried out a comprehensive assessment. Thank you!

I went in for surgery on Ward 3 on 16.08.2023 at Leigh hospital. I can’t thank your team enough for the fantastic care I received. Every single member of the team was amazing, caring, professional and put me at ease when I was anxious and upset about my personal situation. Thank you so much. You are all brilliant.

Review titled Appalling care
Rated 1 star out of 5
by Upset - Posted on 21 March 2023
Please please please do not bring anyone elderly or with more than one potential health issue to this Trust. The care is appalling my mum was moved onto 5 wards in 10 days at 87yrs old though fully cohesive she was frightened all the time about being moved again None of the staff know what she should be treated for despite numerous scans, x-rays blood tests and ultrasound. We have been told different results about a fracture today there is a fracture and 10days from admission she is being referred on the spinal fracture pathway Unable to take Paracetamol it causes vomiting she has refused it and has been left in bed in pain She now understandably has a chest infection, having had a bad chest all her life, and has been informed whilst on her own that they will not attempt to resuscitate her in the event of a cardiac or respiratory arrest. This is in spite of me requesting to be present when this information was to be given. Absolutely appalling abuse of an elderly patient
