Rated 5 stars out of 5
by Maxine Hill - Posted on 24 May 2024
I have just returned home from a short stay at Uhs Southampton. From the paramedics who rushed me in, to the staff in resus who started the emergency care, the staff in amu 2 who stabilised me and the staff in ward e7 who kept me stable until being discharged tonight. We are so very lucky to have these wonderful people there to keep us calm and feeling safe during our most vulnerable times. thank you, thank you, thank you ♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️

Review titled Not happy
Rated 2 stars out of 5
by Alan Cantillon - Posted on 08 February 2024
I am a diabetic. have blood problem and dependent on regular podiatry treatment. My last appointment was 9th November 2023. I phoned 8th January 2024 for an appointment 6 weeks ahead. Which is the normal. I was told no dates were available. I phoned again 22nd January to be told no dates available but I was very near the top of the list. I phoned 8th February only to be told there's a letter in the post and an appointment for 13thMarch. The delay is unacceptable. Furthermore I was told that if I had need for an emergency then to call again to see if there's a cancellation. There were none available at that time. The waiting time for a response to my call is also of concern. Having been told That "we are extremely busy today" for the last two year is an unacceptable excuse for poor management and an obvious lack of staff..

Review titled Trainee sonographer needs more support
Rated 3 stars out of 5
by Anonymous - Posted on 02 March 2024
My husband and I came to Princess Anne for our 20 week scan, something we are usually excited about. The young lady training to be a sonographer, we believe could benefit from more support from her supervisor. Things were said to us we were not comfortable with, she unfortunately seemed to be getting slightly frustrated as baby wouldn't stay still long enough which caused her to become quite heavy handed. Since talking to other expectant mothers/experienced mothers, we have also found that we were not given any information that we should've been. The young lady was pleasant enough but we would really like this to not become a habit of hers to other patients who may not be quite as polite.

Review titled Dermatology Department
Rated 5 stars out of 5
by Roger Broadgate - Posted on 20 January 2024
No faults. No criticism. Staff very efficient & friendly which is how I found the department on the occasions of using it last year. Explanation of the alternative procedures available for treatment of my condition were quite clear & the procedure was then carried out without delay. The advice to me on what to do afterwards was also clearly explained.

Review titled Excellent Maternity Care
Rated 5 stars out of 5
by Jacqueline Beck - Posted on 04 January 2024
I have been supported throughout my pregnancy by Southampton Maternity Services and I have found them to be very knowledgeable, competent and caring. If I had any concerns they checked me and my baby. I had a caesarean at the Hospital that went very well the surgical team put me at ease throughout the whole process and even my midwife commented that I had no bruising afterwards. I am very grateful to the surgeon on 13 Dec 2023 for being so skilled. The aftercare I received was also good when I was on the ward. I feel relieved that my baby and I were looked after so well.

Review titled Excellent forehead surgery
Rated 5 stars out of 5
by David Pugh - Posted on 02 December 2023
On 17 November 2023, I came into the Dermatology department of University Hospital Southampton to have a cancerous nodule on my forehead removed. Have got to say that the whole process was handled perfectly, it was simply exceptional, I couldn’t have wished for better. I consider myself so lucky to have had the opportunity to be treated so carefully and professionally in this dermatology department, so considerate as well. It is now just over two weeks since the operation and everything has progressed perfectly, the stitches look as though they have all melted and there is just a very faint scar line, which looks as though it will disappear completely in a short while. I would very much appreciate it if you could pass on my sincere thanks and appreciation for everything they’ve done for me. Thank you so much and very best wishes to the whole team. Yours sincerely, David Pugh

Review titled Appalling service
Rated 1 star out of 5

Arrived at the ED Department at 8.30am, and didn’t leave until the evening, and left with no outcome. Kept getting moved, but when having an autistic daughter who also has ADHD this wasn’t ideal for her. Had tests done then put back in waiting room for several hours. People were waiting 2 to 3 hours to be triaged. Was told if I took daughter off to get food as her blood sugars were low would be discharged. Reception staff very rude. Wanted our daughter to see the on call cardiology team but we’re told could be several more hours as the only doctor was in surgery. Is this clinically safe ? Patients were being treated on chairs. Waiting room full standing room only. This department has no system going to keep things flowing well. Have been here before and never known it so bad and never known such a poor waiting time. Would not recommend.

Review titled Could improvement be made??
Rated 4 stars out of 5

Appointment time given, was more than 1/2hour after due time before seen for first part of appointment. I could understand if it was busy, but at one point there appeared to be more staff than patients. Nearly 2 hours to have 3 eye tests which in total took less than 10 minutes. Feels like things could be more efficient and therefore reduce the waiting list. No doctor seen, just feels like it could be more streamlined and free up the many staff that seemed to have not much to do, to be deployed in other more needed areas of the hospital.

I would like to thank all the staff on ward e7. They all were kind and friendly. I unfortunately fell over when I was in the bathroom, they came very quickly to help me get back to my bed, which I can't thank them enough for what they did for me when I fell.

Review titled Great experience
Rated 5 stars out of 5
by Mrs Gloria Abrahams - Posted on 24 May 2023
My pre nerve root bloc staff were brilliant, so helpful and considerate both before and after. My radiologist was so professional especially in light of the fact that the surgeon who had performed my spinal decompression last August at the Spire hadn't given the necessary information. The nerve root block was able to go ahead with the MRI Scan I had. After all the pain I have experienced over the past 7 months she gave me hope for the future. Thank you for a good, positive experience.
