  1. Review titled Caring and empathetic approach

by Tomás - Posted on 19 April 2023

I was lucky to get a next-day cancellation slot and was so happy to have my long-standing and very troublesome lesion on my finger finally dealt with. It was an unavoidably painful experience but what made it bearable was the wonderful way I was treated by all of the team at Litchdon House - from the initial assessment throughout to the operation itself. I can't praise highly enough their caring and empathetic approach, with great communication at all stages of the process.

  2. Review titled I felt they were genuinely concerned for me and my wife’s well being

by Jacksmann - Posted on 29 June 2023

I was admitted to NDDH following two falls within 24 hours and the Paramedics on the second occasion took me to A&E. I was also delirious, confused and frightened. I have Parkinson’s Disease and Lewy Body Dementia. I was in hospital for a total of 2 weeks and discharged home with input from the Community Rehabilitation Team. I cannot find the words to express how professional, helpful, (both physical and emotional) they were, not only to me but also my wife. They made sure I had the necessary aids and appliances to make my recovery and ongoing health issues more practical. They were only too willing to listen to my worries and concerns and readily followed up and investigated matters outstanding from other departments within the NHS. I felt they were genuinely concerned for me and my wife’s well being and we weren’t just one of many. The physio exercises which they demonstrated were appropriate and restorative and have helped me enormously in gaining strength and confidence in my walking. I shall continue with these on a daily basis.

Many thanks for your wonderful feedback. It is lovely to hear you felt valued and listened to and that both you and your wife involved in your recovery. I'm pleased to hear the physio exercises have helped you gain back your strength and confidence and hope that they continue to help you maintain your mobility. I glad the advice and aids have also been beneficial to helping you stay safe. It is lovely to hear you felt the team were professional and addressed all your issues. I wish you and your wife all the best with your recovery and remain safe and well at home. The Community Team would be more than happy to provide you with any further support in the future if required. Kind Regards Susan

  3. Review titled Missed appointment

    by chachaqm66 - Posted on 28 March 2023

I rung to apologise for missing an appointment. I had got up early because it takes me ages to dress. Take my tablets, inhaler and blood pressure. Apart from being anxious about leaving the house and meeting new people. I had all my medications prepared the night before to take with me but as I hadn't watched TV the previous night and had forgotten about the clocks going forward I missed my appointment. I was told it would have to be marked as did not attend but she would order another appointment. Why not just say don't worry I'll book you another appointment? I was already feeling bad and annoyed that I had missed it. Please don't assume I did it on purpose. I had no intention of not attending. Please remember patients often have a number of other health issues to deal with and do not need any additional worries.

  5. Review titled The time taken by the staff was much appreciated

    by deploymentbx75 - Posted on 10 February 2023

Assessment for raise recline chairs and beds: The pre-visit contact and information meant the journey to the centre was very straightforward and parking very convenient. The welcome and individual attention were reassuring and made the session a positive experience. The opportunity to see, trial and discuss options without feeling pressured into purchasing something made the appointment more relaxed and useful in guiding our thinking. The time taken by the staff to listen to both relevant and less important detail was much appreciated. Thank you

  6. Review titled Unable to access my digital hospital letter

    by sigmanw78 - Posted on 03 January 2023

I've had an email telling me I have a letter from the NHS Royal Devon University Healthcare Foundation Trust. I need to log into My Care to access it but I can't. I have tried all sorts. I've tried to find contact details for help to access this and I can't. I rang my doctors and they can't help me because they don't know anything about it. So I feel stuck! I can't find help or information about who to contact for help anywhere and I need to read my letter.

  7. Review titled ENT cancer

Rated 5 stars out of 5

GP referral to Consultant 10days. Scans to Operation less than a month. Exceptional care throughout. Having met the surgeon about my Operation, I hadn’t reached the car park before his secretary rang with an appointment date. Post Op care was wonderful by all staff on Otter ward

  8. Review titled A visit with my father to see and try equipment

by Devon lass - Posted on 19 January 2023

We were welcomed into the showroom by a friendly receptionist. She listened to my father's requests and requested an Occupational Therapist (OT) to come and discuss further. The OT introduced herself and also a trainee OT who was working with her. After my father explained his needs, the OT proceeded to show us the equipment and then demonstrated it in the showroom. My father was able to try out the equipment to see how it felt, what it could do and ask further questions. The OT was very thorough with the demonstration and was extremely knowledgeable. Both myself and my father felt all our questions had been answered afterwards. [Unsure about 'Daily living support']

  9. Review titled Outstanding experience

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by Mrs Carol Galton - Posted on 20 January 2023

I fractured my arm whilst abroad in early January and was given a plaster cast which enabled me to enjoy the remaining two weeks of my holiday. Whilst still away I contacted my GP practice to arrange a follow-up to replace the cast. RD&E responded the following day with an appointment for the day after my return. The team at the fracture clinic advised that surgery would provide me with a much more effective outcome than just replacing the cast. As a trauma injury surgery was organised for the following day. This efficiency alone was amazing given the media reports of a struggling NHS. But my praise is for the two dozen or so members of the teams I saw who all demonstrated such kindness, efficiency, support, understanding and humour over the two days. There was no sense of rush or impatience. Procedures were clearly explained and I experienced brilliant care all the way. Thank you all so much.

  10. Review titled Exceptional care

    by Marino10 - Posted on 20 July 2023

My recent visit to Dermatology Department, Litchdon House: I do not have a major problem. However, the specialist consultant, nurse and receptionist are awesome people, kind and extremely professional, with that excellent humanity that only comes with being exceptional at your work (knowledge and ability). I know there are many thoughtless 'knockers' out there, but when you need help, and you get help at this level of excellence, I can only say; thank you, inadequate as that simple statement seems to me.
