Review titled Awful experience
by Anonymous - Posted on 30 August 2024
Was told by a night shift midwife on induction ward that I wasn't in active labour, I asked for pain relief and was only given a paracetamol and codine, was told to have a bath and got left alone. about an hour later I rang the call button and they said I was fine and they couldn't do anything, I hadn't even been checked out. My partner rang the bell again after they left and I was 10cm. Was rushed upstairs. My mum, who I wanted there for the birth nearly missed it because I was left alone, I told them how much pain I was in and was ignored. After birth I was stitched up, another doctor came in and said it wasnt a good enough job. I had to have all my stitches removed and redone, I'm now 2 weeks postpartum and have had nothing but trouble with them. Whoever cut me nicked my leg and the cut got infected. I'm 20 years old, first baby and the full experience was ruined for me.

Hull Royal Infirmary - Accident and Emmergency by ambulance for prostate emergency urine blockage. Understandable 3 hour wait - then catheterisation. Very efficient. Registrar friendly and efficient. Transferred me immediately to Castle Hill. Excellent treatment at Castle Hill and appointment arranged for removal of catheter in six weeks. Catheter removed 28th Nov. 2023. All very friendly and efficient. Would have liked more time with the consultant afterwards.

Review titled Great staff
Rated 5 stars out of 5
by Lisa - Posted on 09 May 2023
Having fallen and hit my head I was treated to a thorough service of scans and finally stitches to minimise the scar. The staff from the paramedics, CT, MRI, consultant and Michal the ever patient nurse were fantastic. Yes it took a while but it was a Bank Holiday and they had other patients with complex needs to manage as well. When I left I felt I had the best treatment I could have had and that my family knew what was going on at all times. I’m not sure that happens very often.

Review titled Horrible farcical place
Rated 1 star out of 5
by Adam Owston - Posted on 29 March 2023
The whole A&E department is a farce, Arrived today to be seen got told it was a 6 hour wait that’s fine i accept that, I lasted as long as 8 hours, I asked the rude people at the nurse den or whatever it’s called how long it was until I could be seen another 6 hours she told me, I was mortified. I asked if somebody could take it my canular out which I got put in on arrival the way I got treat because I wanted to go home was disgraceful, I was accused of wasting doctors time even though i never saw a doctor, since I got my canular and bloods tests done nobody was interested after that, T be told that I had another 6 hour wait after already been there for 8 hours was the final straw. Worst A&E in the country by a mile. God forbid I have to return for any reason, there no hope for any poor soul going to seek help and care there. Joke Shop

Review titled Fantastic staff endoscopy floor 2
Rated 5 stars out of 5
by Lisa Kinch - Posted on 30 January 2023
I had to visit tonight for a colonoscopy, something I was nervous about. The staff were absolutely fantastic! From reception through to recovery they were all very professional helpful and friendly people. They explained everything in detail and made sure you were comfortable with everything. The doctor doing the procedure was really lovely and made it a less stressful procedure talking to me all the way through. Everyone was wonderful ! I already have alot of respect for nhs staff and today is just one example as to why! Thank you to everyone !

I appreciate you are under a lot of pressure and have to triage all patients. But when someone has signs and symptoms of severe reaction/ anaphylaxis should have been taken through to majors not left in reception wait hours with no clinical observations and allowed to get worse with no treatment or review. Do the nurses get triage training? Do you not follow the Resus guidelines???

Review titled Cleaning of ward
Rated 2 stars out of 5
by Anonymous - Posted on 26 November 2022
I was a patient on ward 16 at Castle Hill hospital last week. I have to write this as I was flabbergasted and could not believe my eyes. This is concerning the cleaning staff on the ward. The speed the cleaners were working at was unbelievably slow and with no interest whatsoever. It looked as if they were on slow motion. Meanwhile the nurses were rushing around, short staffed. It not acceptable. As a retired NHS registered nurse I had to write this review despite knowing you have contracted cleaners.
