Review titled Fantastic Maternity Care
Rated 5 stars out of 5
by Mary Allen - Posted on 10 March 2024
I had an early labour at 34 weeks. The delivery suite team, hazel ward and the neonatal unit are all absolutely fantastic. The amount of selfless efforts made by everyone has been overwhelmingly phenomenal and I cannot believe there are this many caring individuals in one hospital! A huge thank you to everyone involved especially the two midwives who supported our journey on the delivery suite. You are wonderful ladies and I cannot be more grateful for your care towards me and introducing my little person into the world.

Review titled Ultrasound today
Rated 5 stars out of 5

Today I had an ultrasound at Great Western Hospital. I was a little early but was happy to sit and wait. I was called in early. The sonographer introduced themselves and was very polite and kind. They tilted the screen so i could see what they were looking at. They were so kind and really made me at ease. Such a good experience. Thank you

Review titled Negative ambulance
Rated 3 stars out of 5

My nan had js that morning come out of surgery. Something went wrong and her leg could literally not stop pouring blood. An ambulance was called and came to check her they put new gauze on her and phoned another clinic which stated she was to be taken to a and e. However, the ambulance crew did not offer to take her even though it was a maducal emergency and she therfore had to wait another hour for her son to drive from the next town to pick her up. This is unacceptable in my opinion

Review titled Neptune Ward and Resus
Rated 4 stars out of 5
by Jackie - Posted on 05 June 2023
The staff on both wards looked after my brother when he was very ill. The Dr on resus was so kind and caring and explained everything thoroughly. We were relieved that we were able to leave him in his care when we had to go home. When my brother’s final hours came, the staff on Neptune were excellent, they made sure they gave us the time and privacy we needed but were immediately on hand if we needed them. They were so considerate and helpful and supported all my family. The family area we were taken to immediately after he passed was quiet and private and we had help and support for as long as we needed. We were also provided a guidance pack which was very helpful. The staff did a wonderful job at a very difficult time and we are extremely grateful. Thank you.

Review titled Outstanding ophthalmology department at GWH
Rated 5 stars out of 5
by David Dignum - Posted on 01 May 2023
The excellent care I received from the GWH rheumatology department had led me to expect a similar experience on attending the eye clinic, however the actual experience surpassed my expectations. I entered at 9am, and by 11.25 I was leaving. During this time, I had 6 professional examinations, each of which took an average of 10-15 minutes, and maximum waiting time in only one instance was 15 minutes. The whole experience was one of swift professionalism, which reassured me that I was receiving excellent care.

Review titled Could’ve been disastrous
Rated 4 stars out of 5

The time was ticking to treat my son in time before his appendix ruptured. Struggled to find him a bed, miscommunication between doctors and sonography, and again between surgeons and nurses regarding paperwork and important post op prescriptions. It’s apparent that in addition to staff being stretched to the limits, processes and systems across the NHS are complicated and flawed. It is also apparent and reassuring to know that frontline medical staff, nurses and volunteers really do care and their services are exemplary.
