Review titled Very Poor A and E department
Rated 1 star out of 5

I had Severe bleeding in the groin area that happened at night when I was about to go to sleep. I Couldn't stop the bleeding with a dressing for 5 minutes. I panicked and was scared and went to Bedford Hospital ASAP for investigation at 2am. Very disappointed with Triage and treatment from staff. They were very unprofessional and not caring. They saw my bleeding and They gave me a new dressing to stop my bleeding and told me to wait in the waiting room to see a doctor. Hours went by and no sign of a Doctor. I spoke with receptionist who said I was not a high priority and was behind 9 people. 8 Hours later a Dr saw me who had started the new shift and saw that my bleeding had stopped with the dressing. I had to answer the same questions that I answered to the Triage, which I found irritating, as these details were not passed on to the next shift. This was frustrating. The Dr apologised for the lateness of seeing her. However, I told the doctor that I was annoyed waiting all night and frightened about the bleeding and that Triage should have told me that my case was not urgent and the bleeding wasn’t to panick about and reassured me. With that in mind, I would have gone home with the bandage instead of waiting for over 8 hours to see a Doctor, who told me the bleeding was healing and scabbing, it’s best to let in heal. I found the whole experience very demoralising. I advise Bedford Hospital to tell their staff to use better care when dealing with patients like myself by clearly informing us about everything, rather than being vague and leave me hanging for 8 hours.

Review titled Amazing staff
Rated 5 stars out of 5

Our young daughter was in hospital after she had a seizure and difficulty breathing. From when she arrived at A&E to leaving the ward the next day, the staff were absolutely amazing. The kindness, personal touch and care they provided was outstanding, I honestly could not believe how nice everyone was. Although waiting on medicine from the pharmacy and discharge took longer than expected, the staff kept us informed and did their best to help the process along. People really do make a big difference to a persons experience at a hospital and we are so thankful to everyone involved.
